Just a quick note to the public about this Greene County "jewel". Country Club of the North golf course was recently bought out. The new company came in and told everyone that their jobs were safe and that the club should do better than ever this year. To re-iterate this, they even hired some extra help to get through the busiest part of the season. All of the ground crew help they hired were high school kids that they paid considerably less than the older, experienced crew. Well guess what? About two seconds after the new kids were trained by the experienced guys, the experienced guys (the ones who have come back year after year to make the club what it is today) were told that they just didn't have the money to pay them anymore and they had a week left of work. (These guys work a March to November schedule, and have every year till' now.) They kept the high school kids, who they pay about six bucks an hour and let all of the experienced staff, the guys who have families and mouths to feed, go. I'm sure that they think this is good business, but as soon as school starts, I wonder who will be keeping the course up till' November? It's disgusting to go out there and take a look at some of the homes and grounds at that place and then be told that they can't afford to pay people a decent wage. It's disgusting and it's not fair and I would like to encourage everyone to let your friends know, maybe a lack of business as a direct result of their job piracy will send a message.
